my first craft show

Look at my beautiful banner my sister Sandy made for me... isn't she a talented seamstress? She is the one who taught me to sew when I was a little girl about 40 or so years ago. Whew! I've been sewing for that long? Anyway, she made this for my first show which was this past December. Forty years of crafting and I just had my first show...can you believe it? I've sold in stores and taken orders for purses, I've even been in shows for our local art gallery, but I haven't physically sat at a show until recently. And let me tell you, it was a lot of work sewing enough bags to set up a whole display! Sandy and Laura helped me immensely with button sewing, tagging, ironing, etc. and my sons, Michael and Joshua built and set up my display platforms. I wouldn't have finished in time if it hadn't been for all of them. But, we had a great time together and it was rewarding to hear so many nice comments about what I love to do anyway. I discovered that the sincerest form of flattery for me is not the money I make, but watching someone walk away excited about their new purse. To create something...anything...that someone else wants to own and use or give as a gift...that just about does it for me. Here are some more pictures of that day...

These are wallets and button bracelet and earring sets made with Vera Bradley fabric. I also had lots of key fobs on the display tree above that didn't show up in the picture.
